Gary has ‘trodden the boards’ since his gang-show days and found theatre, film, and script writing a terrific alternative to religious instruction lessons at high school.
As an 18-year-old, Gary moved to Sydney, and his sheer hutzpah resulted in a full-time day job and a night job of professional theatre engagements with companies including Noel Brophy. Back in Adelaide, he worked as a professional actor, singer, and dancer at the legendary theatre dining restaurant, the Olde Kings Music Hall.
From his late teens, the stage has beckoned, and Gary was drawn to multiple companies and was mentored by theatre luminaries including Bruno Knez and Harold Minear. As a lover of the big picture, Gary directed many award-winning plays for multiple South Australian companies. A keen artist, he became and still works as an in-demand Set Designer. Building on his work and skills managing companies and businesses, intertwined with his love of community theatre, he became Chairperson of St Jude’s Players and the Adelaide Repertory Theatre.
Passionate about people, he is a member of the local area steering committee that consults with local council and has spent more than 10 years as a Non-Executive Director of MOBO Group, an organisation that provides support and employment for over 200 people with disabilities.
Today, Gary works as a Strategic Planning, Business Development, and Marketing consultant. He is the Director of Anderson Strategic and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He works with companies interstate and overseas and is a trusted advisor and consultant to Keystone Private Group, Brisbane. His recent work includes managing HR, strategy, and operations for a successful local commercial insurance business.
Gary is a proud parent and grandparent, and his latest ‘4-legged’ child, Oscar, was named after one of acting and performing’s highest accolades. He is excited to join and contribute again to South Australia’s longest-running theatre company, The Rep.
